In the early 1960s, as washing machines became widespread in America, there was a demand for clothing that wouldn't shrink or wrinkle after washing. "STA-PREST" was created by applying a sharp center crease to a non-denim material that was durable. It is still known as a representative of non-denim items in Levi's®. There is an anecdote that some salesmen at the time would load a washing machine into their car and sell the pants while proving that the center crease would not be lost even after repeated washing. The biggest feature of "STA-PREST" is that the center crease is maintained without ironing, it is wrinkle-resistant, and it does not easily show signs of wear.
