This is a set of five exquisite yunomi (teacups) from Ohori Soma-yaki, a traditional craft of Fukushima Prefecture. This is a series called "Irodori no Sakazuki" (Colorful Cups), which uses various glazes. These items have been carefully stored unused, and come with the original wooden box and an explanatory leaflet. This set incorporates all the charms of Soma-yaki: "Nijuyaki" (double-walled construction), "Hashirikoma" (running horse design), and "Ao-hibi" (blue crackle). ① Nijuyaki (Double-walled construction) • The inner and outer walls have a double structure, making it difficult for the heat of hot tea to transfer to your hand, and also keeping the tea from cooling down easily. This is a practical and excellent traditional technique. ② Hashirikoma (Running Horse) Design • The auspicious "Hashirikoma" design is painted with a skilled brush. (Yunomi on the far right in the image) This is an auspicious design, wishing for family safety and longevity. ③ Ao-hibi (Blue Crackle) Glaze • You can enjoy the unique texture of the delicate cracks (crackle) that spread across the celadon glaze, with no two pieces alike. 【Size】 Height 6cm, Diameter 5.5cm • Unused.
