I purchased this several years ago. It looks like a suzuri (inkstone), and I think it's good for display. The material seems too soft to use as an inkstone, so I've never actually used it after buying it. The lid features the image of a distinguished Chinese person and a moonlit pine tree landscape. The ink surface depicts two water birds.
