Early Imari, Blue and White Painted Grapevine Leaf Sake Cup Early 17th Century Height 2.8cm, Diameter 4.1cm This is a blue and white sake cup from the early Imari period. The shape of the leaves and the presence of vines suggest that grape leaves are depicted. If so, the round patterns on the back are likely grapes. Both the painting and the shape are charming, making this a tasteful sake vessel. After research, while there are plates with grape designs in early Imari, I couldn't find any sake cups, making this a rare piece with few similar examples. It feels good on the lips, making it the perfect sake cup for sipping slowly. There is a single hairline crack from the mouth.
