Thank you for viewing! This is an auction for a rare, vintage, used TOREC J1 Super Jumbo. I'm introducing a truly massive boombox! Even my beloved SHARP GF-535 is considered "extra-large," but this one deserves to be called "super" extra-large... it's that impressive! This unit is the "Super Jumbo J-1," released around 1987. It was a series mainly sold overseas. In the early 80s, Japanese "niche" manufacturers like CROWN and CONION exported many of these to the European and American markets. The speakers have 20cm woofers. They have solid roll edges and look like they should produce good sound, but perhaps due to the cabinet or amplifier performance, they seem a bit underutilized. The output is unknown, but it feels like it's around 20W + 20W. Compared to the size of the unit, the mode selection switches are strangely small and touch-sensitive, with a somewhat cheap feel. The tuner is analog, and the needle doesn't move much when you turn the dial. The reason this unusual model is so popular is clear: its design that departs from typical boomboxes, its overwhelming size, and the fun LED meter display. It's a shame it's almost unknown in Japan. It's equipped with twin rod antennas. It also has considerable depth. The weight itself isn't that heavy, but the balance is poor, and carrying it is honestly quite difficult. I once had a chance to get a boombox with a "disco light," but unfortunately, I missed out. My enthusiasm for collecting boomboxes isn't as strong as it used to be, but I never get tired of encountering interesting models like this. As long as I have the space, I want to continue. I believe that boomboxes have become a genre independent of the audio category. ※【Operational Check & Additional Notes】 Both cassette decks A and B work without any problems. Playback, fast forward, and rewind functions are normal. AM/FM radio reception is also good. There is no crackling (noise) in the volume control. However, this item is a vintage used product, so it is being offered in its current condition (as-is) for auction. Please refrain from bidding if you do not understand the condition or if you are overly concerned about details.
