It features chinkin (gold inlay), a decorative technique unique to Wajima. The late Kunimine Nishimura, a master of the Wajima "Chinkin Association" (passed away at the end of 2020), created numerous chinkin and chinkoku (black inlay) works and contributed to the development of Wajima-nuri. The bowl has a beautiful, lustrous black surface with extremely delicate and intricate chinkoku work, making it a stunning serving bowl that captivates the viewer. The arabesque "Hoso-ge" (宝相華), the design of the carving, is an imaginary flower said to bloom in the Pure Land.
