I believe the shell is genuine, but the battery cover is different. The GAMEBOY logo is slightly different... The LCD screen has scratches, and there are white streaks on the bottom edge of the exterior, possibly cracks. The LR buttons are also discolored, and I couldn't remove the dirt myself. When I bought it, the buttons worked fine, but now only the R button doesn't respond. The game booted up without any problems, so it's not a junk item. You can play the Game Boy without using the LR buttons, so there's no problem. However, if you zoom in, you have to turn off the power to go back to normal... I bought it because I wanted to install an IPS LCD, but I gave up because I don't have the knowledge. I was planning to replace the exterior, so I'm also including a new, semi-transparent purple outer shell, similar to the Midnight Blue.
