I'm sorting through things at my parents' house. My mother, who was the daughter of a kimono shop owner in Kyoto, had a lot of kimonos and Japanese accessories. There are many brand-new kimonos with the sewing thread still attached, and I would be happy if someone could use them. This is an obijime (obi cord). I'm not sure how many times it was used, but I don't think it was very often. The color is a shade of vermillion red and gold.
