The wire adjustment hardware works without any problems. Even a careless and clumsy child can easily adjust it, and I was relieved knowing they wouldn't be walking around with their laces untied. I've given them a quick wash, but some dirt remains on the outside and soles of the shoes, and it's not completely gone. The inside is clean, with no noticeable dirt.
