Nyoirin Kannon (Avalokiteśvara of Compassion) is a Kannon Bosatsu (Bodhisattva) who possesses the power of the wish-fulfilling jewel and the Dharma wheel to sever worldly desires. Her name comes from "Nyoi Hoju" (wish-fulfilling jewel) and "Hōrin" (Dharma wheel). She is often worshipped by women due to her feminine appearance. As a source of blessings, she is revered for safe childbirth, prosperity of descendants, longevity, wealth, good fortune, and as the Six Kannon who saves all six realms of existence with her six arms, and has been a refuge for people as a ward against evil.
