Because it has not been washed, it shows signs of dry rot. In my amateur opinion, there is shine, a smell (not sour), and when you rub the fibers with your fingers, black powder sticks to them. If you use a lint roller, it will become completely black with fibers. I think it will tear and crumble if you pull the fibers or wash it. I haven't tried it. There are no frays or holes.
