This is one of the recordings from Riccardo Chailly, the Italian maestro, when he was in his 30s, shortly after becoming the music director of the prestigious Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in the Netherlands. This is a recording of Brahms' complete symphonies. He later recorded with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, but this performance is youthful and elegant.
