Veronika is a woman's name, but it's also the name of a perennial plant with blue flowers native to Europe, so I assume that's where the name comes from. Gustavsberg is a long-established ceramic brand representing Northern Europe, with many famous designers such as Lisa Larson. This series was designed by Karin Bjorquist, a Swedish female designer. Her designs are famous for the Vardag and Svart Ruter series, and she is one of Sweden's leading designers, with her designed Nobelservisen tableware being adopted for the Nobel Prize banquet in 1991, which marked the 90th anniversary of its establishment.
