This is a remaining pair of scissors that my grandmother gave to someone she taught sewing to. Please forgive any age-related deterioration. The paint is chipped where the handles, the part you hold, are touching (see image 6 for a closer look). They were stored in a chest of drawers. They are surprisingly clean, considering they are from the Showa era. The opposite side of the "宗勝" (Munekatsu) engraving has "正鋼付き" (Seikō-tsuki) engraved on it. I looked it up and it seems to mean carbon steel, and it was often engraved on Japanese kitchen knives back then, so it seems to be made of the same material as Japanese kitchen knives.
