Pure silk Length: 398 cm Width: 31.5 cm This is a stunning maru obi featuring various chrysanthemum flowers blooming across the entire width of the beige fabric. The subdued color palette, with accents of slightly muted vermillion and aquamarine, creates a pattern that is full of autumnal charm. The design is the same on both sides. It doesn't appear to be a hiki-nuki pattern, but for some reason, the pattern on the tare (hanging part) is reversed (please see image 1, the tare). This is an antique item, but there are no noticeable scratches or stains, and it is in beautiful condition for its age. Maru obi are originally the most formal type of obi, but this particular obi has a somewhat rustic impression, like a Japanese painting, so I think it would be more suitable for everyday wear or outings rather than formal occasions.
