Nakano dolls mainly feature good luck charms and figures of daily life. The 'Tategahana Dolls' made by Mr. Nishihara were started in the Meiji era under the guidance of roof tile craftsmen from the Mikawa region of Aichi Prefecture, and mainly produce dolls based on Kabuki themes. As such, it is very rare for two lineages of clay dolls to continue to be made in the same region, and at the 'Nakano Doll Festival,' these Nakano clay dolls are sold by lottery, attracting clay doll fans from all over Japan.
