At the same time, he deciphered the descriptions of dyeing and plant dyeing recorded in the "Engishiki," a collection of laws that compiled the religious regulations and administrative rules of the Heian period, and reproduced the "Kasane no Irome" of the Heian dynasty using the dyeing methods of the time. This newly revised and re-edited edition includes all of Yoshioka Yukio's meticulously selected color illustrations of the fifty-four chapters.
