This is a long bag for a medium-neck (nakazao) shamisen or a thin-neck (hosozao) shamisen. It was made from antique fabric that was washed beforehand. Some of the glitter has come off during washing. The main color of the outer fabric is purple. A pattern of paper fans is woven into the background. The material is synthetic fiber. It's a smooth, satin-like fabric with a crisp feel. The lining is from the underlayer of another kimono, and is a silk fabric with a pattern of bamboo and chrysanthemums. There is one small repaired hole, but it's not very noticeable.
