This is a red lacquered water container (mizusashi) in the style of Kosen-sai, made by Kawabata Kinza. The warm, red color and elegant form of this piece are soothing to the heart. It bears the kao (signature) of the 13th generation Omotesenke school head, Sokyusai. There is a needle mark on the bottom.
