This is a nativity scene decoration made by hollowing out a log. You can move the carved figures back and forth to create various scenes. In Germany, people decorate their living rooms with nativity figures (called "Krippe") like this starting in December, and I think this can also be considered a Krippe in a broad sense. It's also easy to store because it's compact. This is a used item that has been displayed a few times, so I've marked it as having some stains, but I don't think the condition is bad.
