The fish hook carving, modeled after a fishing hook, is a talisman for the Maori and Hawaiian people. I made this one from ebony, one of the world's three finest hardwoods. It's polished to a smooth finish, and the wood grain and knots of the material are quite appealing. The cord is a six-strand braid of waxed cord (light brown), and the length is adjustable (70cm circumference). The cord is doubled, allowing for length adjustment, so it won't get in the way by hanging down your back. It's all handmade without using power tools. It was a lot of work, so the price is a bit higher.
