The tear doesn't go all the way through; it stretches to about the size shown in photo 5. It may depend on the child's leg size, but it was barely noticeable when my thin daughter wore it. There's a small hole on the back of the leggings, hidden by the skirt. It doesn't go all the way through and is less significant than the tear near the knee (see photo 6). May be compressed for shipping. Small pills on the waist area, otherwise no pilling. Warm enough for outings in the dead of winter.
