This is a Sansui (mountain and water) horseback cup from the Tosho-gama kiln, a Kiyomizu-yaki (Kyoto-ware) pottery. Dimensions: Diameter 5cm x Height 6cm, Weight 80g I purchased this in Kyoto about 20 years ago. The cup is painted with a Sansui (mountain and water) landscape in sometsuke (blue and white). The rim of the drinking surface is cut into a petal-like shape called rinka (wheel flower), and is edged with iron in a brown color, known as kuchibeni (lipstick), which is often seen in high-quality porcelain. Each piece has a unique, hand-painted feel. The Sansui painting is densely applied, even to the foot of the glass, and the inside of the glass is also beautifully decorated with gosui (blue). This Kiyomizu-yaki porcelain wine glass is suitable for aperitifs. It has a Japanese aesthetic and can also be used as a Japanese tableware. I purchased it and have displayed it unused. I am selling it because I have no opportunity to use it. I am also selling individual pieces. I would appreciate it if you could understand that this is a used item that has been stored at home. #KiyomizuYaki #KyotoWare #WineGlass #JapaneseTableware #SansuiPainting #Porcelain #Tosho #HorsebackCup #Porcelain
