According to the accompanying pamphlet, it was made using a 250-year-old pine tree from the inner garden of the eighth-generation Katsuya Takuwa's residence, and the lacquer finish was done by Wajima-nuri lacquer artist Kiyoto Kozaki. The exterior is finished with the shiraki (unfinished wood) of the old pine tree, and the contrast with the inner black lacquer finish is well-balanced, resulting in a magnificent piece. The inscription "Nagisa no Matsu Hakufu" is written in red lacquer on the underside of the lid.
