There are no noticeable stains, but please refrain from purchasing if you are sensitive to imperfections or cannot accept oversight. The hood can be folded away. It's also cute with the sleeves folded up. It's thicker than a windbreaker! It's about as thick as a jacket, but thinner than a jumper. I think it can be used by both boys and girls.
