This haori was stored in a paulownia chest since before the Showa era. The exact age is unknown, but it may be even older. The original owner was born in the Meiji era. The material is unknown, so please check the enlarged photos. The fabric has a rough texture, but it feels light and high-quality. The color looks black, but I think it's more of a dark gray. There is a very small check pattern overall. The color of the check pattern appears to be blue, green, or gray. (I've looked at it too much and can't tell anymore. I apologize that I can't distinguish it with the naked eye.) The lining has a unique, asymmetrical large pattern. In some places, the basting threads are still attached. There appear to be no noticeable scratches or stains on the surface. There are yellowed areas on the lining (photo 10). Since the yellowing is on the lining, I have categorized it as "no noticeable scratches or stains."
