Tsurugajo Castle (Tsurugajō) Goshu-in (Official Castle Stamp) A symbol of Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture. Its official name is Wakamatsu Castle (Wakamatsujō), also commonly known as Aizuwakamatsu Castle (Aizuwakamatsujō), and it is famous as the stage of the Boshin War. Originating from the Higashikurokawa residence of the Nanboku-cho period, Ujisato Gamo built a full-scale castle tower and named it "Tsurugajo." It was an impregnable castle that withstood the fierce battles of the end of the Edo period. Currently, the castle tower is a museum, and it is characterized by its red tile roof.
