There are some areas where the inside bottom of the pot is chipped. Please be sure to check the photos. A few years ago, I scratched it with a metal utensil, and in trying to remove the damaged part, some of it peeled off... I've continued to use it since then, but there's no metallic smell, and the damage hasn't spread since I've been using silicone utensils exclusively. As it's cast iron, the outside bottom has some rust from aging. I've also used it for camping. In addition, I've used it for curries and stews, and it's been very useful.
