It stops when the teacup is removed, and when an empty teacup is placed back on the tray, it turns and returns to its original position. This series of movements is created by cutting-edge scientific technology at the time, such as the "demp" which applies the clock's speed control mechanism, and the "cam" which converts rotational motion into complex movements.
