There were various types of whaling boats, including the Seiko boat, Ami boat, Mochisou boat, Taru boat, and Dougu boat, and many wooden toys of these boats were made. These model boat toys were each decorated with beautiful colored paintings and were loved as toys for children. This is the "Old-Style Whale Boat" by the Oguraya couple, Shurou and Akiko Yamamoto, from Nachikatsuura, Higashimuro District, Wakayama Prefecture. Oguraya was founded in 1938 by Kentaro Ogura, and the couple Shurou and Akiko Yamamoto are the second generation.
