These are underpants for soccer goalkeepers. They have pads on both sides of the knees and thighs to protect against abrasions. My son relied on these a lot when he was a goalkeeper, so the padding is torn in places, and the cushioning is coming out. I've sewn them up to repair them. I think they can still protect the skin.
