◇ About the Makers ◇ We sell handmade shinobue flutes crafted by a father and daughter team in Shimane Prefecture, with the father having about 25 years of experience as a shinobue instructor and flute maker. We harvest female bamboo (shino bamboo) growing in the Shizumagawa River (formerly the Ginzangawa River), and we make shinobue and kagura flutes from bamboo that has been dried for over 3 years. ◇ Shipping Method ◇ We will ship via Yu-Pack (Japan Post) using the Yu-Yu Mercari service within 1-2 days of purchase. If you need it urgently, please leave a comment. ◇ Description ◇ A 6-hon-choshi flute is two semitones lower than an 8-hon-choshi flute, resulting in a vocal range closer to the human voice. Songs with a # at the beginning of the score can be smoothly played without using many semitones if transposed to C major. ◇ Tuning ◇ Tuned to the Western musical scale of 440Hz, using a tuner to match the upper register (second octave), allowing for ensemble playing and performance with other instruments. Tuned to allow for the sound of the lower register (first octave), upper register (second octave), and higher register (third octave) to be produced by breath strength. As these are natural bamboo flutes, each one has its own unique characteristics. Those accustomed to other flute makers' flutes may take some time to master the higher registers (3rd and 4th octaves) on these flutes.
