Jotaro Saito is a Kyoto kimono artist, the grandson of the dyeing artist the late Saizaburo Saito and the son of the contemporary kimono artist Sansai Saito. He pursues kimonos as fashion that matches modern spaces. He is frequently featured in media such as TV and magazines, and is active as a leading kimono designer and textile artist in Japan. He advocates for "the evolution of tradition" and "a lifestyle that enjoys Japanese culture," and demonstrates his talent in a wide range of fields, including product and interior design. Sha (silk gauze) is a simple gauze weave woven by twisting two warp threads around each weft thread. It has a more transparent feel than Ro (a type of gauze), and is one of the summer fabrics that can be worn widely, from casual to semi-formal. There are various types, such as textured silk gauze and silk gauze using tsumugi thread.
