This Nagoya obi was received from my aunt, and although the details are unknown, it appears to have been used a few times. It has been stored for a long time, and I couldn't find any stains or other blemishes. As it doesn't have an obi core, I believe it's an 8-sun Nagoya obi, a type used for casual wear to semi-formal occasions. The design, called Enmon Byakkosuzaku Nishiki (circular pattern of white tiger and vermilion bird), features the white tiger and vermilion bird, which are the four divine beasts in ancient China, woven in a circular pattern. This pattern was used in textiles from the Asuka period, which are preserved at Horyu-ji Temple. It's an elegant and refined design, and it might be suitable for occasions where you want to dress up a bit more than usual. The tag says "Mitsukoshi," so it's likely that it was purchased at the Mitsukoshi department store.
