This is a fine example of a Chinese natural stone Luowen inkstone, a common shape during the Qing dynasty. Luowen inkstones are known for their smooth grinding surface. As they are used, the remaining ink seeps into the horizontal stripes of the Luowen pattern, creating a beautiful landscape reminiscent of a sumi-e painting or a sunset cloud after washing. This is a very nice piece. I will not be setting a very high price this time. I will be listing it at this price. What do you think?
