This is a top-class recording and performance of Don Giovanni. The recording of this "Don Giovanni" has a wide range and good clarity, and occasionally includes hall noise and sound effects. The recording date of 1966 is relatively recent, making it sound quite modern. The soundstage and the resonance of voices and overtones unique to SACD can be heard more realistically, and the interpretation is different from any other performance. It is not at all comical, but rather heavy and dark, and may require patience from the listener.
