This is a fukuro obi (formal obi) from Monya Iseki, a textile workshop with the oldest history in Japan. Monya Iseki has a long history of 400 years and, as a Goryo Orimono Tsukasa (official weaver to the Imperial Court), has continued to weave costumes for the nobility, shoguns, and daimyo. Using the highest quality silk materials, it is woven lightly and very supple with outstanding techniques. This is an unused and very beautiful item. With a modern design of karahana (Chinese-style floral pattern) in black with beige urushihaku (lacquer foil), it is an item that is easy to match with any kimono. It has an indescribable elegance and dignity, suitable for formal occasions and tea ceremonies. The lining has a Shippo (seven treasures) pattern. It is made with the highest quality silk obi core.
