This is a whale cart that originated in Kishu (present-day Wakayama Prefecture). The Taiji and Nachikatsuura areas of Wakayama Prefecture have long been known for their thriving whaling industry. I think a Kishu whale cart is rare. --- It looks quite clean at first glance, but as it is an old piece, it is being sold with some scratches and dirt.
