This film is based on the mystery novel of the same name by Shusuke Shizukui, known for "Confessions of a Killer," and marks the first co-starring role of Takuya Kimura and Kazunari Ninomiya. Directed by Masato Harada, who has directed numerous hit and classic films such as "Climber's High," "Chronicle of My Mother," "The Emperor in August," and "Sekigahara," the film depicts the conflict between two prosecutors surrounding a murder case. Elite prosecutor Saigo of the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office and rookie prosecutor Okino are assigned to a murder case in Tokyo where the perpetrator is unknown. Eventually, a man named Matsukura, who was a suspect in an unsolved murder case that had reached the statute of limitations, comes to light, and Saigo relentlessly pursues Matsukura. Okino, who looks up to Saigo as his mentor, also puts effort into the interrogation, but Matsukura continues to deny the charges, and there is no progress. Okino gradually begins to question Saigo's approach, suspecting that Saigo is trying to frame Matsukura.
