Vintage natural abalone shell carved tropical fish brooch, purchased over 30 years ago from a European antique shop in Shonan. This is a set of three items, including the brooch and two blue and red ribbons depicting Belgian chicks playing in the water (river/sea). The brooch features a beautiful play of colors, with shades of deep honey ivory/pearl and sepia/amber, reflecting pink, green, blue, and purple. The colors shift depending on the light and source, sometimes appearing strongly gray or blue-green, adding to its charm. It has a strong, characteristic luster of this shell. The ribbons, likely vintage Belgian, are made of rich, textured threads. They depict a delightful scene of siblings/friends playing with a ball underwater, with someone throwing a life ring from a blooming hill. Abalone shell is the nacre of the abalone, said to be named after the legendary paradise "Avalon."
