The original was released in April 1985 with a US retail price of $65. The design is by Peter Moore, who is also famous for designing the three-stripe, triangular Adidas performance logo. The Wing Mark was inspired by a replica of the US Air Force pilot wings that Peter Moore saw while traveling by plane. At the time, the colors released in Japan were red x black, red x white x black, white x gray, white x blue metallic, and this blue x white.
