This pickup, named "BB," was created in 1959. "BB" stands for "Blues Blood." Blues is a cry born from hardship, a voice of longing, encompassing everyday trivialities, sadness, pain, and subtle joys. The strength of this pickup lies in its sensitivity, capturing the emotions that blues players pour into each note. While the 1963 "Vertigo" has a brighter tone, the BB is slightly darker with a thicker low-mid range. It's designed to evoke the transition period when Fender gradually changed the Stratocaster pickups to S-pole top around 1958. We've aimed for the sound of the slab board era that many imagine. The winding direction is also CW, like the original, with a lot of cross-wide winding, resulting in a vintage-oriented pickup without any quirks. While the basic parts (winding direction, magnets, magnetic poles, etc.) are based on vintage specifications, the emphasis is on the "atmosphere" of the sound. In 2024, we were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to compare it with a real vintage pickup. The comparison was mainly in the neck position, and although the tone of the 6th string seemed slightly weak, it was a surprisingly close tone, which surprised me and the other attendees (the amplifier used was a Surh PT-15). Although there are individual differences in guitars, this is definitely an orthodox pickup that follows the vintage tone. "BB" allows players to enjoy various tones depending on how they play, so please give it a try.
