This is a pot insulation cover, convenient for thermal cooking. I mainly use it for oden (Japanese hot pot) and simmered beans. After simmering for a while, I put the cover on for about an hour, and when I check, it's still piping hot. The flavors have also soaked in thoroughly. If the ingredients are hard, I boil them again and then put the cover back on. Wrapping the pot in a towel or similar before using the cover further increases the insulation effect and prevents soiling.
