This is a collection of items gathered by my grandparents, who love travel and cooking. I'm decluttering and have decided to let these go. ☆ Shichiemongama (2 pieces) Purpose: Tea cups Features: From the Hirashimizu-yaki kiln "Shichiemongama." Some of you may not be familiar with it. It's pottery and porcelain made at the foot of Mt. Chitose in Yamagata City, with a history of over 200 years. It is characterized by pottery with a soft texture created by applying white makeup, and expressions that make use of soil containing a lot of iron. "Shichiemongama" is one of the three remaining kilns of Hirashimizu-yaki. It makes everyday tableware, such as vases, plates, and teacups, that have a simple texture, making use of the texture of the original soil, which contains a lot of iron. The reddish-brown sides, like yakishime (unglazed pottery), have a fine particle feel that is slightly different from the pottery you often see. You'll understand when you hear the material. It is said that it is made using soft "stone" collected at the foot of Mt. Chitose in Yamagata Prefecture. By firing it at a relatively high temperature, it approaches the texture of porcelain. It has a smooth, and refreshing feel that you'll want to keep touching. The glaze has a color that mixes blue and gray. It is the "Nashi Seiji" glaze, which is a specialty of "Shichiemongama," and it has a thick, plump finish, and is characterized by the appearance of iron spots.
