Dyed on both sides, they can be hung and displayed. ◎ About Aizome (Indigo Dyeing) This product is indigo-dyed using only natural sukumo indigo and wood ash. The design, pattern making, and dyeing are all done by a single person. Each piece is hand-dyed, layering the color. ◎ Techniques: Katazome (stencil dyeing) and immersion dyeing A stencil is carved, and a paste made from glutinous rice and rice bran is applied. The areas where the paste is applied will not be dyed. This is a dyeing technique where the fabric is immersed in the dye solution repeatedly to prevent the paste from coming off. ◎ About the Design The design expresses the round eyes and plump physique characteristic of children. It evokes the image of them swimming leisurely in the sky. By using the strong plant indigo, we hope that the children will grow strong and take root in the earth. The mouth of each carp streamer is decorated with three types of decorative cords (red, yellow, and navy) to represent the windsock. Those who purchase the set of three will receive a silk tassel (red). ◎ About Name Insertion You can have your desired single kanji character placed in the space at the mouth of the carp streamer. (The first kanji of your child's name, a kanji expressing a wish, the first kanji of your family name, etc.) The first one is 3,000 yen, and the second/second character is an additional 2,000 yen. Please let us know if you would like this service. ◎ Outdoor Use and Care Due to the nature of natural indigo dyeing, the color may fade and yellow slightly with prolonged exposure to ultraviolet light. After displaying, it is recommended to remove the core from the mouth, soak it in warm water for about a night, wash it with a neutral detergent that does not contain fluorescent agents, and store it in a place away from direct sunlight. Yellowish color may appear during washing.
