This indigo dyeing is designated as a Mie Prefecture Traditional Craft. This item is from a workshop that stubbornly uses traditional methods for dyeing and weaving. The characteristic of genuine indigo-dyed cotton is that the color becomes more beautiful with each wash. This is a raw fabric roll. Please wash it to remove the starch before tailoring. It seems that they have to apply a little starch to the threads when weaving in the workshop, otherwise, they cannot weave well. It also greatly improves the texture. How about using it for a single-layered kimono? The last image shows three colors of Matsusaka cotton. This dark navy color is the darkest color on the left. When washing, please do not wash it with other items. (Once the color has stabilized, even if the indigo color adheres to other items, it can be removed by washing.) It will shrink somewhat when washed, but it is woven larger in both width and length to account for this.
