Circa 1910 Size: Cup: Diameter 63mm, Height 47mm Saucer: Diameter 113mm This is a very small cup. It's more for display than for use as a demitasse. It is believed to be a special order for Minton by OVINGTON BROTHERS, a high-end porcelain shop that existed in New York at the time. Under the reign of Louis XV of the Bourbon dynasty, works were produced, mainly at the Sèvres kiln, with picture frames around the windows and enamel used to represent jewels (French: bijoux). The technique of applying jewels on pottery was a very painstaking process, and skilled techniques were required to apply them in the same size and at the same intervals, and this technique can be beautifully seen in this very small work. I won this piece on another site, but I happened to meet the owner of an antique cup specialty shop in Tokyo who listed this piece. According to the shop owner, the price has gone up considerably due to the strong yen and the scarcity of items. They said that this price is a good value now.
