From a French antique market. This is a very old item. Judging from the surface condition, I estimate it to be at least 100 years old, if not from the medieval period. As you can see in the last photo (from Bruegel's painting "The Peasant Dance"), it was widely used at the time to serve water and wine on tables. Items from this era often have chipped spouts due to their age, but this one is beautifully preserved. There is a 23 stamped under the spout. The glaze inside is thick, the construction is solid, and it has a substantial weight, so overall, it is still perfectly usable as a water pitcher. Although the time and country are completely different, I find it strange that it also has a Bizen-yaki (Japanese pottery) feel. It has a great atmosphere as it is. It is made with a low center of gravity and a stable construction that is unlikely to tip over, no matter what you put in it, so it can also be used as a vase or flower base for tall items.
