【Genuine Work】Mumon Yamada 1900-1988 Monk of the Showa era. Born July 16, 1900. He studied under Ekai Kawaguchi, and later at Rinzai University (now Hanazono University). After being a Unsu (monk in training) at Tenryu-ji Temple, he became the chief priest of Reiuin Temple of Myoshin-ji Temple in 1949, and the president of Hanazono University. In 1978, he became the Kancho (chief administrator) of the Myoshin-ji school. Known for his easy-to-understand sermons, he also devoted himself to the慰霊 (irei - consoling the spirits) of the war dead. He died on December 24, 1988, at the age of 88. He was from Aichi Prefecture. His secular name was Chojiro. His other names were Taishitsu and Tsusendo. 【Condition of the Work】This work is a handwritten ink painting on paper.
