This item is made by hand, using durable cotton Fukuro-himo (tubular weave) Sanada-himo from the long-established Kanazawa workshop, Orimoto Sumiya.
Sanada-himo is a cord woven with warp and weft threads. It is known for its resistance to friction and pulling, and has long been used for things like cords for tea ceremony boxes and sageo for swords. It also develops a unique texture with use.
The length is 240 cm, which is standard for sageo on Japanese swords and Iaido swords, and the width is 1.2 cm.
Because it is high-quality Sanada-himo, it can be cut to your preferred length and used as an obi締め (obi cord) or for handmade materials. Some people also use it as a blood stopper for portable shrines.
It can be easily threaded through most kurigata (sword scabbard knobs) without snagging. Please note that there may be slight variations in length due to the manufacturing process.
